    A-class Mercedes-Benz sedan: A close look

Mercedes-Benz names the’ A-class Limousine ‘ sedan in India. But that doesn’t mean it gets an extended wheelbase like its major brothers, the E-class and the S-class. It gets the same 2.729 mm wheelbase as it does in America, and not the stretched one in China. The name extension did primarily differentiate it in hatchback shape from the A-class. Which is how it marketed in its first generation here. Yet don’t let that throw you off, because the new A-class sedan has a lot to think it.

It essentially replaces the CLA as the smallest four-door model on this market for the brand, and with the A-class and B-class hatchbacks unlikely to arrive in India anytime soon for a second generation, this could become the latest entry point to the Three-Pointed Star here.

And then pricing is crucial for making an enticing entry point, thus staying clear of the C-class sedan as well. We believe the standard models to priced in the Rs 32-40 lakh (ex-showroom) range.

Such’ regular models’ expected to include the A 200, powered by a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine with 163hp, and the A 180d, powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-diesel with 116hp. Both of these expected to be mated to automatic dual-clutch gearboxes.

Nonetheless, the pattern you see in these pictures is far from normal. This is the AMG A35 which powered by an all-wheel-drive 306hp, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine.

A perfect sign of purpose that this the model Mercedes select to display at Auto Expo 2020. If it goes on sale, expect a good bit more than the regular A-class models to priced.

Although it still a pretty streamlined roofline, you’ll find not fully angled like the CLA’s, and the A-class sedan really provides even more headroom at the rear than its sibling’s four-door coupĂ©.

And it also provides greater space and legroom than the vehicle it replaces, thanks to the new-generation underpinnings. This time around the back-seat experience much less affected, which needed in a business such as ours. It also the new MBUX infotainment system from Mercedes upfront, installed in a well-built, stylish and high-tech cabin.
