After launching its new model for 2020, Over three weeks, Audi will launch the A8 L luxury sedan in India on February 3 ahead of the Auto Expo.
The German luxury carmaker owned by Volkswagen would release the model after having begun the year with all the launch of the Q8 sports utility vehicle in mid-January.
The Q7 will make its debut in the next half of 2020 in India, the company advised. The luxury carmaker will launch its first car e-Tron this past year.
The A8L, which has a 13 cm longer wheelbase than the normal A8, is sold in two trim worldwide both of which can be powered by a V6 engine. The milder version develops a peak power of 286hp, while 340hp is generated by the version. Both have a high speed per hour of 250km.
This will be the model on sale from Audi in India following the A3, A5, A4, A6, Q5, Q7 and Q8. The launch of the A8 happened a few years back and the car was supposed to return to India last year. But looking at the severity of the downturn several carmakers needed to change their launch plans.
Sales of luxury cars sold by the German trio Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW — clocked a 26 percent year-on-year fall to 28,021 units in 2019.
Audi has seen a drop that has been the worst in 10 years. The German company, that was the top luxury car maker in India in earnings, posted a decline of 29 percent YoY to 4,594 units in 2019.
Luxury carmakers will not go slow. Mercedes-Benz, the nation’s biggest luxury carmaker, will launch over 10 units in India this past year.
