As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, so does its roster of figures. While just yesterday it was announced that Zawe Ashton would be joining the cast of Captain Marvel 2, today we have word that another upcoming project is looking to cast two more puzzle roles.
According to the website POC Culture, Marvel Studios appears to be seeking to cast two people to play Mayan characters in something that’s supposed to be filming shortly; however, the site neglects to say which project precisely.
As a result of the super sleuths at Murphy’s Multiverse though, it’s been strongly hypothesized that the job is Black Panther 2, specifically since the timing of the casting games up with all the film’s projected start date.
The two characters are a female called”Zyanya” and a man named”Cadmael”. Zyanya is described as a fierce warrior, and also the personality breakdown indicates that the actor needs to have a strong background in dancing and fighting. For Cadmael, the studio is searching for somebody at least 6 feet tall, and the personality is described as equally powerful and loyal. In addition to people of Mayan descent, the casting call can be open to North and South American actors of native descent.
Now, it ought to be said that in the comic books there are not any characters with both of these titles, so it’s highly probable these are codenames. Given that there aren’t a lot of Mayan characters from the comics either, there’s a chance that these can be new characters altogether.
If these figures do appear at the Black Panther sequel, it’d be interesting to see how they are connected to Wakanda. With rumors of Namor and Atlantis playing a part in the movie too, their appearance could only be an indication that many new cultures will be explored. We will just have to see.
