BMW says “Bella Ciao” to i8 hybrid sports car

BMW i8 was like a future car, in its days, and still represents the face of incredible sassy BMW’s hybrid car lineup. But unfortunately, everything gets old and dies. After an applauding 20,500 units of BMW i8, it finally gets discontinued, but it’s BMW we are talking about. The farewell to this iconic car, was given, and how do you ask?

The BMW i8 factory rolled out the last 18 units of these cars with uniquely colored exterior bod. They even said that it posed a challenge on the assembly line, to get these unique paints as a tribute, so technicians painted them by hand. And that’s how you say “Bella Ciao” in BMW style. Many of the customers for these final vehicles belonged to the BMW i8 Club International. Some of these members were present when the vehicles rolled off the assembly line. The last vehicle on this lineup was an i8 Roadster in Portimao Blue, that rolled out before they called it off.

Before we weep and grief about this icon let’s now more about this handsome and dashing car, which even made into one of Tom Cruise’s movies.

    BMW i8

Just like the heading above, the introduction of this hybrid sports car is redundant. The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car was the production version of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. And then in 2014, this icon was launched in the market. Its futuristic appeal was advanced for the time and hybrid vehicles were not very popular back in 2014, yet this vehicle had an astonishing sell. Now in 2020, the BMW offers this vehicle in two trims:

    • Coupe: $148,495
    • Roadster: $164,295

The 2020 BMW i8 packs a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder gas engine with an 11.6-kWh battery pack and two electric motors. This combined powerhouse produces a 369 hp thrown to all wheels. The amazing sprint from standstill to 60 mph takes just 4.1 seconds in this hybrid sports car.

Not only power but the insides of this sports car were both advanced packed with tech and refined leather wrapping. The BMW i8 was a 2-passenger car, for obvious reasons. It had leather-wrapped heated seats, with gray contrasting accents. The cabin was spacious and airy, and the roadster trim removed the hard to for storming air right through the top of our head.

The 2020 BMW i8 had an 8.8-inch touchscreen at the top center of the dashboard. BMW’s Drive system and navigation as standard in the infotainment system. And Apple CarPlay took care of the smartphone connectivity inside this hybrid sports car.

The BMW i8 though will have an amazing second-hand market price, as the vehicle is such a desire. If you don’t believe do gift me one.
