C257 Mercedes CLS 2020 will be a mild hybrid vehicle

With the reveal of Mercedes Benz E-class facelift, this March. The German automaker also hinted about slight updates in the upcoming C257 CLS. The vehicle will be on sale from June 3. There are four variants being offered- CLS 220 d, CLS 400 d 4Matic, CLS 450 4Matic, and the CLS 53 4Matic+.

    What’s new?

The new CLS might not receive any exterior changes. The 4-door coupe is already a charm and can make head turn. We will get new exterior color options though, that include  Mojave silver and Cirrus silver. The CLS 220d will feature an OM654 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder provides 194 PS (192 hp) and 400 Nm of torque. While the CLS 400 d 4Matic gets a more powerful OM656 2.9 liter six-cylinder with 330 PS (326 hp) and 700 Nm.

In the petrol variants, we’ll have  CLS 450 4Matic powered by an M256 3.0-liter turbo straight-six with 367 PS (362 hp) and 500 Nm. The CLS 53 4Matic+ will have the same engine but different outputs, as in  435 PS (429 hp) and 520 Nm. A mild hybrid system that will add  22 PS (21 hp) and 250 Nm when needed gave assistance to both the variants.

Inside the vehicle, the older command system will be replaced by a new MBUX one. The interface will be linked with two 10.25-inch displays with a larger 12.3-inch one as an option.

The CLS will have upgraded safety features. It will include Active Brake Assist as standard. It is essentially an autonomous braking function that is designed to prevent a collision or mitigate its severity. Other available features include the Driving Assistant Package that adds Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Distance Assist Distronic, and Active Stop-and-Go Assist, among others.
