Everything You Want To Know About The Blacklist Season 8

The Blacklist’s current season comes to an end on May 15, when NBC will broadcast the partially animated finale. The series was forced to cut its season if the show can resume filming but those remaining episodes are likely to form part of Season 8.

Will There Be Another Season Of The Blacklist?

In February 2020, NBC revived The Blacklist for Season 8.

“The Blacklist continues to inform exciting and imaginative stories,” Chris Parnell, co-president of Sony Pictures Television said at the moment. “It is due to the cast, crew, and our writing staff, headed by Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath, who commit to unparalleled creativity. Wait until you see what’s in store for Season e8.”

The contracts of the major cast of the show, including lead stars James Spader and Megan Boone, concluded after Season 7, but they were revived in expectation of the show’s renewal. This means that all the actors will return for more.

What is certain, however, is when the series will return for one more season. IMDB currently has it that Season 8 will come back if production in New York is shut until the summer, in 2021, which appears likely.

Usually, seasons of The Blacklist begin in late September or early October. For it to take place production would need to start in July or August. There is some precedent for the show. Season 6, by way of example, started on January 3, 2019, so the show doesn’t need to begin filming and Season 8 could follow suit.

The Blacklist’s current season had to end manufacturing in mid-March, three episodes earlier than intended. Based on USA Today, Bokenkamp and Eisendrath are currently determining whether to start Season 8 with the plot lines from the three episodes that have yet to be filmed or to start afresh.

Eisendrath informed Variety: “Ordinarily we start the season from the writers’ room, thinking,’Oh my God, we put all of the fantastic stuff in the conclusion of the last year.’ At least this year, moving forward, it is going to be the contrary… We have all of this fantastic stuff that we have not filmed, and hopefully, it will enable us to start next season with a bang.” The same article also noticed that its writer’s area has not yet opened.

Blacklist star Diego Klattenhoff told TVLine, meanwhile, that despite not being proposed as a season finale, the last episode of Season 7 is, “likely to liven everything for Season 8.” This finale will air on May 15 at 8 a.m. ET on NBC, after which the countdown begins to the beginning of Season 8.

The Blacklist Season 8 is coming soon to NBC.
