Ford Could Use Mustang Name For Other Models Beyond Mach-E

Fifty-five years after the Mustang was introduced, Ford is expanding the use of the legendary nameplate as a completely different vehicle. It is an all-electric SUV, called the Mach-E, and when it takes some styling cues from the iconic Pony car, the two vehicles are different, even if Dearborn’s official term.

According to a new report by Autocar, not only this but the Mustang-badged model may be more visible.

A little more is known at the moment of writing. Still, the British magazine has empowered that Blue Oval may be interested in turning Mustang into a dedicated performance sub-brand.

Additional vehicles carrying this moniker are being considered, although it is not yet clear what the models may be and whether they will be electric like the Mach-E or will still be a combustion engine.

As you may recall, there was a wild rumour about Ford a year ago showing dealers a four-door Mustang.

The report said something more practical than the Mache said stang as it was believed to be a sedan with a loft roof for a coupe.

The car was said to have a turbocharged V8 engine, with a pair of turbos to give enough power to rivals such as the Porsche Panamera and Audi A7 Sportback – these are the two models that dealers were told to The four-door Mustang will compete.

We haven’t heard anything about the unconfirmed report since then, so it remains to be seen whether a possible expansion of Ford’s Mustang portfolio will include a sedan.

The 2021 Mach-E also did not start in life as a Mustang, so it will be interesting to see which road the famous pony will take over the next decade, we know that there is more to the story than the two-door Could be a sports car and an electric SUV.
