Godzilla’s alpha status will be challenged by Kong in Godzilla vs. Kong, but his main threat may actually come from a different creature.
Godzilla’s claim to the title of King of the Monsters will be contested by Kong at Godzilla vs. Kong, but his biggest threat may actually be a different monster entirely. According to past Godzilla films, Mechagodzilla is a much more dangerous competition for Gojira.
Directed by Adam Wingard and place for a March 2022 release, the fourth MonsterVerse setup will see that the King of the Monsters squares off. It’ll be the first battle between the two icons because they clashed in Toho’s 1962 classic, King Kong vs. Godzilla. The battle will happen in the middle of Monarch’s investigation into the history of an individual conspiracy and the Titans to remove of the Titans. At least two new Titans — Mechagodzilla and Nozuki are expected to appear at the film in some capacity, but it’s not completely clear how they will factor in the narrative.
The Plot of Godzilla vs Kong
The official assumption for the film is provided as:
“In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future places Godzilla and Kong on a crash course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on Earth collide in a dramatic battle for the ages. Since Monarch embarks on a dangerous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues into the Titans’ origins, an individual conspiracy threatens to wash the creatures, both good and bad, from the surface of this Earth forever.”
This will not be the first time that Kong and Godzilla have confronted each other. Their earlier battle was in the Japanese film of 1962 King Kong vs. Godzilla. King Kong was seen by this film as the victor at the conclusion of the battle. While that movie featured two stuntmen in matches, we get to find a VFX treat.
Last time we saw Godzilla
The last time we saw Godzilla was in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. He moved against the three-headed King Ghidorah and emerged victoriously. In the end of the movie, Godzilla was the undisputed King of the Monsters as all other Titans bow down to him. How he comes into conflict with Kong is something exciting to see.
Last time we saw Kong
The last time we found Kong was in Kong: Skull Island. The film was put in the 70s. It featured a Kong. This teenage Kong was the living member of his race. His fight was with all the Skull Monsters. In that movie, he was shown protective of humans, just. From the time Kong shows up to battle with Godzilla from the present day, he must have grown up. This means he would be larger in size, strength, and techniques.
The Cast of Godzilla vs Kong
The film will see a few new faces and some old faces. The cast includes Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir. Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler reprise their roles from Godzilla: King of Monsters.
