Godzilla Vs. Kong, The Matrix 4, Warner Bros And Production Due To The Coronavirus?

Warner Bros. announced lots of high-profile changes to its release calendar on Thursday.
Legendary’s sequel Godzilla vs. Kong is giving up its chair in the 2020 Thanksgiving box office feast, and will instead hit the big screen on May 21, 2021.

The change has been among numerous changes announced Thursday from Warner Bros., for example, that its untitled Matrix 4 is pushing back its launch by almost a year from May 21, 2021, to April 1, 2022. The untitled Matrix tentpole was among many high-profile movies that needed to shut down production as a result of coronavirus.

Other modifications: Robert Zemeckis’ The Witches has been removed from the calendar for now (it was set to open on Oct. 9, 2020); and Tom & Jerry is moving out of Dec. 23, 2020, to May 21, 2021.

Having previously been slated for a November 20 release, Godzilla vs. Kong will come out on May 21, 2021. Does this imply waiting an additional six months for these two Titans to eventually clash, it also means it’s arriving a full year later than its first slated launch, as years ago, the monster film was declared to be coming out on May 22, 2020.

As for The Matrix 4, while it held on its May 21, 2021, date for a while, it has been moved to April 1, 2022. This delay is no uncertainty due not to the go slate, but since the film also had to halt its production on account of the current health crisis.
