According to his Star Wars 9 script, Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic Globe: Dominion has the potential to give the Jurassic World trilogy a satisfying ending. Thus far, the directing career of Trevorrow was a bit of a roller coaster ride. After building his feature-length introduction on the acclaimed indie dramedy Safety Not Guaranteed in 2012, Trevorrow made the jump into the big leagues by helming 2015’s Jurassic World, a long-awaited continuation of this Jurassic Park trilogy. The movie managed to exceed commercial expectations (taking in a massive $1.67 billion at the box office), despite getting mixed-to-positive reviews.
Soon after, Trevorrow signed to co-write and direct Star Wars 9 for Disney. He officially left the job in September 2017, citing differences with Lucasfilm. This happened just a couple of months after Trevorrow’s The Book of Henry, a play the filmmaker had initially meant to make following Safety Not Guaranteed, bombed with critics and was largely ignored by audiences. Trevorrow went on to concentrate his energies on serving as a writer and producer on manager J.A. Bayona’s Super World: the Fallen Kingdom, that became a different box office smash (grossing $1.3 billion) but was also much more critically divisive compared to its predecessor.
