Le Mans introduces new “Hyperpole”  format for 2020

Introduction

Le Mans has added a new qualifying format dubbed as ‘Hyperpole’  to set the top positions of the grid for the next Le Mans 24 Hours. This is a new thing and a great piece of news to keep yourself updated.

The 45 minute qualifying period is on for an extension to half an hour Hyperpole session this time. After this, the top six cars in each of the four classes will show up. This event is before the FIA World Endurance Championship finale on June 13/14. And the 24 cars that make out through this session will be allowed only for one run and will not be permitted for the pit returning for 30 minutes.

Words and Words: Hyperpole!!!

The teams will be having a free choice of tires over the allocation and the race to facilitate their win. And not to forget that the qualification will be taking place between 21 and 21 30 hours of the following day.

Pierre Fillon the president of the le mans organizer of the Automobile Club d quest, further explains that the new format aims at guaranteeing two exciting sessions for the drivers and spectators, with all the focus on the sheer speed for the quest of the perfect lap. For all the teams, adrenalin, suspense, and concentration will be the prime thing out in the track through the Hyperpole.

The 24 hour battle on their 13 km track is going to be probably the most exciting one as promised by him. Thus, Le Mans will be a race that goes on celebrating not just for the weekend but for a week. It will be iconic in its ways. The new Hyperpole takes out the previous three two hour session and the free practice done at 1530 hours on Wednesday and Thursday.

Two more training sessions will take place as sandwiched between Hyperpole on Thursday. There may be a change of an hour this year as announced earlier at the starting of the race.
