Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door spotted during testing in India, will give competition to Thar 5-door

Maruti Suzuki (Maruti Suzuki) introduced the 3-door version of the Jimny (Jimny) at the Auto Expo 2020. This car caught the attention of many people. Now it seems that Maruti will bring the Jimny to the Indian market but in a 5-door avatar. The test model of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV has been spied on Indian roads during testing. The automaker is likely to unveil the production-spec version of the Jimny 5-door at the Auto Expo 2023.

Look and Design

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door (5-door) model that was spotted during testing was camouflage (completely covered). But still the boxy design features of the SUV can be seen. It gets circular headlamps with projector setup, grille with vertical slats and flat bonnet. In the test model, the rear doors can be clearly seen along with the square windows. At the rear, there are horizontal tail lamps in the bumper and a spare wheel at the tailgate.

What is The Size?

Suzuki has decided to increase the wheelbase of the three-door Jimny by 300 mm, so the length of the 5-door Jimny will be 3,850 mm. The wheelbase will increase from 2,250 mm to 2,550 mm. Increasing the wheelbase will help adjust the rear doors and create more space for the rear occupants. On the three-door Jimny, the rear occupants have to slide the front seats forward and then move to the rear seats which is a bit cumbersome.

Interior

Interior details of the Jimny are yet to be revealed, but it could come with the new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that Maruti is now using on the Baleno, Brezza and Grand Vitara. At this time, the Jimny is sold with a 7-inch unit. The new SUV may also get some connected car features.

Competition

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door will compete directly with the 5-door versions of the Mahindra Thar (Mahindra Thar) and the Force Gurkha (Force Gurkha). Both are currently in the development stage and test models of both the new SUVs have already been spotted.
