MG ZS EV booked over 2,300 bookings in India before launch

In What is an instance of a carmaker final bookings for a product before its launch and cost announcement, order books have been closed by MG, the ZS EV, for its all-electric SUV. What’s impressive, however, is that the MG ZS EV has gathered 2,300 reservations in less than a month because MG formally opened order books on December 21, 2019.

2,300 is an essential number of orders for an electric car in India and is down to MG’s growing popularity with all the purchasers. The pull of the MG brand is powerful as its original model, the Hector, created waves when it was established last year and still is a formidable competitor in the midsize SUV segment.

The MG ZS EV’s India launch was scheduled for January 23, which is when pricing to buyers’ very first set will probably be disclosed. This price is very likely to be revised when MG reopens bookings for your ZS EV.

To recap, the MG ZS EV gets a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery pack, which powers an electric engine that generates 143hp and 353Nm of torque. All that electricity is delivered to the wheels via a gearbox. The ARAI-certified range on a complete fee of the MG ZS EV is pegged at 340km.

Section of this MG ZS EV’s features list are automatic projector headlights with LED DRLs, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, keyless entry/go, a tyre pressure monitoring system, 17-inch alloy brakes, and an electronic parking brake, which come standard on the bottom Excite variant.

The top-spec Exclusive version will include a panoramic sunroof, leatherette chairs, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a PM 2.5 filter at the cabin, and also rain-sensing wipers. Both variants will get security features like ABS with EBD, ESC, six airbags assist controller, a rear parking camera, and back detectors as standard.

MG has put 50kW DC rapid chargers up at select dealerships, which could recharge the battery of the ZS EV from 0-80 percent in only 50 minutes. MG will provide a 7.4kW AC charger (which may restore the battery fully in 6-8 hours) at every ZS EV buyer’s home/office. MG will even supply a charging cable using the ZS EV, which is used with almost any 15A socket, making charging more accessible in emergencies.

At Launch, MG will sell the ZS EV in five cities across India — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. The MG ZS EV’s prices are expected to begin at Rs 22 lakh, which will find it go up against the Hyundai Kona Electric.
