Sherlock is a British crime television series based on sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, it stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson.
So far 13 episodes have been produced, with four three-part series airing from 2010 to 2017, and a special episode that aired on 1 January 2016.
The season one was aired on 25 July 2010, the second season was released on 1 January 2012. The third was released on 1 January 2014 and the fourth season was released on 1 January 2017 with 3 episodes each.
The first season got a 93% ratings, the second season got a 94% ratings, whereas the third season got a 91% ratings. The special season which was released on 1 January 2016 got 61% ratings. The fourth and the recent one got a 55% ratings from Rotten tomatoes.

Sherlock Season 5 Plot
The upcoming series will pick up where it left in the last season, with Eurus Holmes safely back in the confinements of her secure unit.
In the season four finale, The Final Problem revealed Eurus to be an expert manipulator who gets thrills from taunting her detective brother.
Sherlock also discovered how she had killed his best friend ‘Redbeard’ as a child, having remembered the story very differently for all those years.
Both Sherlock and Watson remain companions until the end of the series, so hopefully, all the characters will have their own stories.
Sherlock Season 5 Cast
Benedict Cumberbatch will surely return as the main character and he will be joined by Martin Freeman as Watson.
There is a possibility that Sian Brooke will also return in season 5. Other than these the characters list has not been shared by the creators.
Trailer Updates
There has been no official announcement for the launch of its trailer. Trailers do not usually drop until a couple of months before a show is due to air, so fans could be waiting for some time.
Release Date of Season 5
There is no official release date for season 5 of Sherlock but we can expect the show to be released either in 2022 or 2023.
