Spoilers for ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ Season 2 Episode 9, ‘Witches’
The narrative of Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) and his master, it seems, has reached a new chapter. In the season 2 episode, Nandor (Kayvan Novak) promised Guillermo that, one, he’d ultimately be turned into a vampire, and 2, he was entitled to more breaks and privileges.
The latter, it appears, is not something Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) likes. Nadja desires Guillermo (who often calls Gizmo) to continue to be servile. She wants him to be at her every beck and call. Before things could escalate, but unbeknownst to the others, Laszlo (Matt Berry) gets kidnapped by a coven of witches.
Nadja, who is paranoid about witches, immediately suspects something isn’t right. She suspects witchery and plays. And before long, Nandor also is kidnapped right before their eyes. Together with Nadja’s keen sense of smell, she, Guillermo, and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) follow the”stench” of these witches to a health store in Brooklyn.
Soon, however, all three of these find themselves captives of those witches, locked in an area with endless doors. All this while Guillermo and Nadja keep bickering, together with the recognizable ultimately throwing a loud”f*** you” in her.
It will become evident that the reason the witches kidnapped Laszlo and Nandor is that they desired their semen to keep their youthfulness. The witches were headed by Lilith (Lucy Punch), who was not unfamiliar to Nadja or Laszlo.
She and Nadja used to be buddies a century or so ago. But Lilith and Laszlo had an affair (afterward, too, she wanted his own semen for witchcraft). It was again Guillermo who saved daily as things got heated up.
An avid watcher shark Tank’, also filled with a newfound entrepreneurial soul, Guillermo implied that instead of surgically removing their semen, why couldn’t they come to an arrangement in which Nandor and Laszlo would frequently provide them with semen and Guillermo could be given a cut from the witches’ profits — they sold skincare products.
And things went back to normal. Or did they? Through the episode, it became clear that Guillermo is satisfied becoming familiar. He believes about looking for a career opportunity or starting a business. His spats with Nadja must also function as a hint for how he no longer respects the other vampires (he cares for Nandor).
Will this season’s finale then see the dissatisfaction of Guillermo reach a point? Let’s hope not.
