Stellantis is bringing back its V-8-powered Ram TRX pickup truck for the 2027 model year. The truck will arrive in late 2026 with a starting price above $100,000. This move reflects the easing of federal emissions regulations and the company’s effort to revive U.S. sales. The TRX aims to attract buyers to Ram and maintain visibility in the high-performance pickup market.

Ram TRX Returns With V-8 Power

The Ram 1500 SRT TRX is scheduled to have a 6.2-liter Hellcat V-8 engine that is supercharged. It generates 777 horsepower and 680 foot-pounds of torque. The truck takes 3.5 seconds to travel 60 miles per hour and maximum speed of 118 miles per hour. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis noted that the TRX return puts the brand at the next level.

The original TRX ran from 2021 to 2024 before being discontinued. Stellantis had reduced its focus on gas-powered V-8 engines. The new model is priced at $99,995 before a $2,595 destination fee, bringing the total to $102,590. This makes it a low-volume, high-visibility model meant to drive showroom traffic and brand recognition.

Stellantis Plans U.S. Market Revival

The TRX return is part of Stellantis’ wider turnaround strategy for Ram under CEO Tim Kuniskis. Since his return, Kuniskis announced multiple plans to boost U.S. sales. These include returning to motorsports, reintroducing Hemi V-8 engines, and canceling a battery-electric Ram 1500 model. The brand aims to attract buyers from competing automakers in a slow sales market.

Stellantis fell from fourth to sixth place in U.S. sales between 2021 and 2024. Sales in 2025 were 6% lower than the previous year. Forecasts suggest 2026 will see flat or declining auto sales. Kuniskis said the company plans to capture a larger market share despite these challenges.

New Engine Options and Performance

Stellantis also unveiled an additional 6.7-liter Cummins high-output turbo diesel engine in the 2027 Ram Power Wagon heavy-duty truck. This engine is capable of providing 430 horsepower and 1,075 foot-pounds of torque. The relocation is an indication that it is still concentrated on internal combustion powertrain with performance pickups.

The company positions the TRX as the fastest and most powerful production gas pickup in the world. The truck caters to buyers interested in performance, off-road capability, and premium features. The price increase compared to the previous TRX reflects its halo status and limited production.

Jeep Reset and Broader Brand Plans

Ram is not the only Stellantis brand undergoing changes. Jeep is also implementing a reset plan under CEO Bob Broderdorf. The brand is streamlining models, adjusting pricing, and improving features across its lineup. Broderdorf said the changes aim to restore growth after years of declining sales.

Upcoming Jeep models include a revived Cherokee midsize SUV and an all-electric Recon inspired by the Wrangler. The plan aims to strengthen Jeep’s presence in the U.S. market. Stellantis expects combined improvements from Ram and Jeep to stabilize overall U.S. sales.
