The Netflix series is psychological, witty, and edgy, and it’s been met with all sorts of positive testimonials from casual audiences and critics alike. Now that Dead to Me season 2 will shortly be available, here’s a look at what we know about the future of this acclaimed series so far. (Just remember: You’ll find some significant season 1 spoiler ahead.)
What is the Dead to Me season 2 return date?
On April 10, Netflix revealed that the show is coming back into the service on Friday, May 8.
Who in the Dead to Me cast will return for season 2?
During the June 3 FYSee panel, Netflix confirmed that Christina and Linda have both signed on for Dead to Me season two. And that makes sense: Their character’s storylines are obviously central. Filming wrapped months ago, according to a December 2019 Instagram article from Linda.
What’s more, Variety reported that Natalie Morales (the celebrity, not the Today show star) will be joining the strike series as a recurring character named Michelle. According to the outlet, Michelle is called”down and up to earth” and contains a”relaxed charm and infectious comedy.” She creates a relationship with Judy at the assisted living center where Michelle’s mother lives.
Will Steve (James Marsden) return for season two? It seems like it!
Are there any Dead to Me spoilers for season 2 yet?
Season 1 finishes with exactly what many fans have called a severe cliffhanger: After discovering that Judy was responsible for her husband’s death, Jen is seen standing over the body of Steve a.k.a. Judy’s ex-fiancé with a gun in hand. Yikes.
Last May, the show’s founder, Liz Feldman, wasn’t sure whether Netflix would grant her a season two. However, she did have some thoughts about where the series goes next. “I’ll only say you don’t understand that [Jen] shot [Steve],” she advised The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “Much like the rest of the show, it is not just what you think it’s going to be.”
In general, however, it sounds like we can expect to see more of this dark humor and elaborate friendship energetic between Jen and Judy we came to love in Dead season 1: “What I’ll say is that [season 2] will be on the additional exploration of the friendship… between both of these girls,” Liz later told Entertainment Weekly. “In the most elementary manner, the score has been evened. What I wanted to do was create a situation where they’re driven together, and they want each other now in certain ways more than they did at the beginning of season 1”
And, based on Christina, the play will be brought by season 2. “We have had some stuff in season 2 that is the most intense [stuff] I have ever had to do as a celebrity in my life, with [Linda],” Applegate told the Los Angeles Times.
