The Coronavirus epidemic has contributed to the postponement of several launches in the automotive industry. And as for the launch date of the MG Hector Plus. It would be the same as originally expected.
So, we expect June to be the month when the company releases the Hector Plus. As it will be marking its first anniversary in India this month.
The MG Hector Plus is a longer, plusher MG Hector. It weighs in length 4,695 mm, in width 1,760 mm and height 1,835 mm. It is, thus, 40 mm longer but as wide and as tall as the 5-seat SUV. The wheelbase is the same, too-2.750 mm.
MG will sell seven-seater Hector Plus as well as six-seater Hector Plus. The business is equipping the latter with middle row captain seats. While the Hector has black padding, the Hector Plus has brown padding to look more upmarket.
The MG Hector Plus flaunts a cleaner front fascia that includes modified headlamp style, distinctive grille inserts for radiators, sporty bumper, and exclusive skid plate. The three-row SUV at the rear features tweaked tail lamps, assorted reverse and fog lamps, trapezoidal exhaust tips and special skid plate.
So, the Hector Plus can be priced by MG from somewhere from INR 13-13.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This three-row SUV will be in close competition with the Tata Gravitas and the Mahindra XUV500.
Second MG factory to concentrate on compact cars and SUVs-IAB study
Rajeev Chaba, MG’s Indian subsidiary’s president, and Director disclosed the specifics about the second plant of the company in India. So, Chaba revealed that the company had yet to determine if it was going to be a greenfield or any other form of facility and that it would take a few more months for the same. Asked whether the necessity for another plant is high.
At the moment MG’s Halol plant has an annual production capacity of 80,000 units but this figure can be expanded if necessary. During our conversation with Chaba, we further questioned if we will see more inexpensive versions coming from the second factory.
