BS6 Tata Nexon makes 120hp of petrol

While we know that Tata Motors upgraded the Nexon with the facelift compatible BS6 engine. The company quietly added more power to its 1.2-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as well. Already delivering 120hp (up 10hp) at 5,500rpm and the same torque of 170Nm at 1,750-4,000rpm as before, the Nexon is now the most powerful petrol variant of Tata, overshadowing the Tiago and Tigor JTP by a 6hp range.

With its 123hp, 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. The Ford EcoSport is still today the most powerful compact petrol SUV. But the Nexon and Venue turbo-petrol engines deliver 20Nm more torque.

Interestingly, the upgrade to BS6-compliance has also seen the Nexon petrol-manual. Diesel-manual ARAI mileage increase by 0.4kpl and 0.9kpl, respectively, to 17.4kpl and 22.4kpl.

Tata Nexon prices are now ex-showroom. With prices ranging from Rs 6.95-11.20 lakh to Nexon diesel ranging from Rs 8.45 lakh to Rs 12.70 lakh, respectively.

Facelift Tata Nexon launched at Rs 6.95 lakh

Tata launched the Nexon facelift. With prices ranging from the petrol variant Rs 6.95 lakh and the diesel version Rs 8.45 lakh. The updated petrol compact SUV is priced at a premium of around Rs 22,000 compared to the model it replaces. Although prices for the diesel start Rs 56,000 higher.

The Nexon’s design changes are in line with its EV sibling with a revised front fascia and a more upright look to meet. The upcoming pedestrian safety standards come into force later this year. The blue highlights on the latter’s exterior are a major point of difference between the standard SUV and EV.

There are a few updates inside the cabin too. The traditional instrument cluster has made way for a digitized unit-the Tiago unit and not the Nexon EV part-digital unit. A new flat-bottom steering unit and the use of lighter colors.

The 1.2-liter turbo-petrol and 1.5-liter diesel were upgraded to comply with BS6 emission standards under the hood. Both units continue to develop 110hp/170Nm. And 110hp/260Nm identical to their counterparts in BS4 respectively. For both units, the gearbox options include either a six-speed manual or an AMT.
