There are just days to go before the upcoming Formula 1 season in Australia gets underway. But as the lights go out who is going to compete for wins. Who is going to fight for their seats?
F1 writers Mark Hughes, David Tremayne, and Will Buxton, F1 Senior Writer Lawrence Barretto and F1 Staff Writer Greg Stuart put their necks on the line with some ambitious predictions about the 2020 F1 season, like who most likely to beat Mercedes and steal the headlines…
I am really excited about…
According To Mark Hughes:
Ideally watching Hamilton, Verstappen and Leclerc battle wheel to wheel on a regular basis and seeing how the complexities of that play out. We have to be careful with each other on one side. So, on the other, we can’t afford to let the new one slip in.
According To Will Buxton:
Seeing Red Bull return to the task of a world championship and seeing Max Verstappen’s continued progress as one of the excellent drivers of the day and so, seeing Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton rising to that challenge and what kind of standard Hamilton will attain to take the seventh crown. In the end, the record for victories in the series.
What will come up with the biggest surprise?
GS:
Charles Leclerc, for example. It sounds strange to say that I think his competitors underestimate him. But I’m not quite sure what an implacable force he is about to dawn on everyone. The Ferrari’s success is clearly a big question mark. But if it’s good enough to be a season-long match for the Mercedes, I think Leclerc can soar.
WB:
It will either be a shock that Ferrari is actually in trouble, or that they’ve been sandbagging all along. I hope Racing Point will shake the government early on beyond the racers in gold. If some of the major teams stumble, I think the Racing Points will likely end up on the podium.
MH:
I don’t even remember! This is why I am going to be surprised! Yet, erm, So, I expect Lance Stroll to see big progress this year.
