Groupe PSA’s Citroen To Soon Step Into Indian Automobile Sector-Claims for high digitised sales

Groupe PSA also known legally as Peugeot S.A., is a group of well recognised automobile brands; known as PSA Peugeot Citroën from 1991 to 2016 is a European multinational manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles sold under the various brand ownerships like Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel and Vauxhall brands.

Peugeot, amongst them being the largest PSA brand. It was in the beginning of 2016 when Groupe PSA began to outline the strategy for the  exponential growth of the company, through both geographic expansion and acquisitions of other car companies.

Recently the Groupe PSA has announced plans to enter the Indian, American, Canadian, ASEAN, and other markets in the coming years to expand their business world-wide. With the company having headquartered in Rueil-Malmaison, and a whooping sales of 3.88 million units in 2018, was the third-largest Europe-based automaker, just some fraction behind Renault.

On October 31, 2019 Groupe PSA announced intent to merge with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and this merger will be based on 50-50 all stock basis for both the companies.

On 18 December, 2019 FCA and PSA announced that they had agreed to the terms of a binding $50 billion merger. This merger would create the world’s fourth largest automaker and to establish world class research in automobile industry.

Now heading towards the news we are getting regarding the Indian automobile sector, European auto major Groupe PSA is initially targeting India’s ten cities for Citroen brand through smaller, yet highly digitised showrooms, with an aim to help its dealers to invest judiciously on premises, according to the statement given by a senior company official in an interview.

The company, which is formally on the way to enter the Indian market with Citroen brand early in the recent coming year, is looking to create a seamless digital experience for prospective customers of its first model — C5 Aircross SUV.

According to the latest sources from Citroen India Senior Vice President and sales & marketing Roland Bouchara, made a statement for the Indian customers that Through this network, the company aim to bring in a digital disruption for a seamless customer experience.

With high digital intervention, the brand aims to have comparatively smaller sales outlets in the country.
