Engine and Performance
The base G70 2.0T features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that sends 252 horsepower (255 on the manual) through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels.
Irrespective of the powertrain configuration, the G70 has expertly balanced ride and handling characteristics. Its suspensiоn smооthed оut uneven surfaces and the sedan remained cоmpоsed during spirited cоrnering sessiоns. The more powerful 3.3T has the benefit of adaptive dampers that allow the driver to firm up the ride if necessary. Still, every G70 we’ve driven did a remarkable job of sending information to the driver’s hands.
Fuel Economy and MPG
With multiple powertrain combinations and rear- or all-wheel-drive options, the G70 lineup has different EPA-rated city and highway estimates. The all-wheel-drive 3.3T is rated the least efficient at 17 mpg city and 25 highway.
Interior
The 2020 Genesis G70 has five seats. This is a driver-oriented sports sedan, so upfront is where you want to be. The front bucket seats offer day-long comfort. It has a multitude of power adjustments (12 for the driver and eight for the passenger) to find that just-right position.
There’s also plenty of side bolstering to keep you supported on long drives and snug when driving aggressively. It’s easy to see over the car’s hood. It has excellent outward visibility in all directions makes manoeuvring the G70 an easy task.
The second row is a different story. The sloping roof cuts into headroom, and legroom is tight. Adults will likely feel cramped, especially if a tall driver or front passenger slides their seatback.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Every G70 is fitted with a standard touchscreen infotainment system that protrudes from the otherwise clean dashboard. The setup includes desirable features, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Key safety features include:
- Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
- Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
- Premium automatic high-beam headlights
Verdict
The mid-range Sport model now comes with a more aggressive brake setup, all-season tires on 19-inch wheels are now an available option. The 3.3T Prestige package now includes a power-operated trunk lid. The base 18-inch wheels are shinier than last year’s rollers, and brown leather can be ordered to give the cabin a more vibrant ambience. It’s more accelerative, better balanced, more agile and genuinely, hilariously playful.
