DC Comics’ Dark Knight has a very long and productive history in movies and tv, and now he’s poised to come back to the big screen in The Batman, the upcoming solo attribute set in Warner Bros. Pictures’ universe of DC superheroes and villains. Casting today appears to be underway, both official and otherwise, although the evolution has been slow to the project.
Set to be directed and composed by Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes filmmaker Matt Reeves, The Batman is the character’s first solo feature because of the end of Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy. The film scheduled to hit theaters in June 2021, with Robert Pattinson taking on the character of the Dark Knight along with several other famous faces enjoying some of Gotham’s most prominent citizens.

The Batman Cast
A lifetime ago, it appears Ben Affleck was going to star in and lead The Batman. However a lot has changed, and now Robert Pattinson will celebrity in the titular role.
Pattinson has had a lot of time to prepare for the role by doing quite what you would expect: studying the comics. Every actor that chooses Batman has to place his stamp on the most iconic voice. Pattinson’s will be “kind of pirates.”
Despite some fans’ theories (and passionate wishes), Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker will not feature in The Batman because the protagonist as we know him Todd Phillips’ Joker exists in a separate world.
Though there’s no Joker, The Batman will star The Riddler, aka Edward Nashton, played by Paul Dano.
Batman will have an ally in Selina Kyle, aka Cat Woman, played by Zoe Kravitz, and a love-hate relationship with Commissioner Gordon, played by Westworld star Jeffery Wright.

The Batman Release Date
In the time of writing, The Batman includes a release date of June 25, 2021. There is still a lot of work to be carried out. Casting is still underway, also Pattinson has reportedly begun training to the role of the caped crusader.
On November 2, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete Rigan Machado published an image of himself Instagram demonstrating a transfer to Pattinson with a caption that read, “Batman is coming.” The photo has since deleted.
The Batman Plot
Given Pattinson’s era, it is like The Batman will explore the eponymous character’s formative years, although Reeves has adamantly denied he’ll be adapting the Year One comic book.
However, he’s confirmed that the movie will not be stand-alone, and will instead tie into the broader ‘World of DC’ undertaking.
“There are ways in which all this connects to DC, to the DC universe as well. We’re one piece of many bits so that I don’t want to comment on this except to state I’m focused very specifically on this element of the DC world,” he explained.
However, Aquaman’s Jason Momoa has disclosed he will not be linking up with the Dark Knight anytime soon.
