The Lucid Air electric sedan has received some minor updates for the 2025 model year that provide enhanced performance and efficiency.
In this blog, we will breakdown all the new changes and specifications of the updated Air lineup, focusing on the entry-level Pure model. We dive into the details of the Air Pure’s reduced battery capacity and increased range. We’ll also cover improvements made across the entire Air range.
So whether you’re interested in getting the full story on the world’s most efficient electric vehicle or want specifications on Lucid’s other luxury models, keep reading to learn all the key facts and figures.
The 2025 Air Pure model introduces an 84-kWh battery pack. With the smaller 84-kWh battery, the Air Pure is now rated for 420 miles of range by the EPA, an improvement over the previous 88-kWh pack. This battery size reduces materials usage and charging demands.
The updated 2025 Lucid Air Pure now has an estimated driving range of 420 miles on a full battery charge according to tests conducted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This is based on the new 84 kWh battery pack which is nearly 5% smaller in capacity than the previous model’s 88 kWh pack.
Yet thanks to efficiency improvements, the car can travel about 1 mile further per charge which is impressive given the smaller battery size. Owners can expect to drive for about 420 miles before needing to plug their vehicle in for charging.
Lucid shared the test results of the 2025 Air Pure which show it achieving an incredible energy efficiency rating of 5.0 miles per kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed. This means the Air Pure can travel 5 miles using only 1 kWh of energy from the batteries. No other electric vehicle on sale today can match this industry-leading figure according to Lucid.
In fact, they said the Air Pure is around 42% more energy efficient than its nearest rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric car. Having such high efficiency is a major advantage as it allows the Air Pure to attain its extended estimated driving range of 420 miles using a battery pack that is lighter and smaller in size.
Compared to other electric vehicles on the market today, Lucid shared testing results demonstrating that the Air Pure achieves higher energy efficiency. Specifically, the Air Pure received an impressive EPA rating of 5.0 miles per kilowatt-hour, which is approximately 42% better than the Hyundai Ioniq 6 Long Range RWD model’s 4.9 mpKWH rating.
An even larger gap exists compared to the Lexus GX 550 2024, which is only able to travel 4.4 miles on a single kilowatt-hour of energy according to EPA tests. This solidifies the Air Pure’s position as the most energy-efficient electric vehicle currently available. For the 2025 model year, Lucid will once again offer customers a choice of three Lucid Air trim levels. The range starts with the Air Pure base version focused on value and efficiency.
Upgrading from there, buyers can select either the Touring or top-of-the-line Grand Touring models which offer increased power, luxury features and in the case of Grand Touring, the longest driving range of the trio at an estimated 512 miles on a full charge. Retaining these three familiar trim levels provides shoppers clear options when configuring their ideal Lucid Air electric vehicle.
Model | Price | EPA Range |
Air Pure | $71,400 | 420 |
Air Touring | $79,400 | 406 |
Air Grand Touring | $111,400 | 512 |
Bringing performance to match its extended driving range, the top-spec Grand Touring trim of the 2025 Lucid Air offers an unmatched combination of capability. With a projected EPA estimated driving range of 512 miles on a single charge from its high-capacity battery pack, it allows owners to travel for over 500 miles before needing to stop to recharge.
At the same time, its impressive three electric motor powertrain produces a massive 812 horsepower, enabling it to rocket from 0-60 mph in a mere 2.5 seconds. This makes the Grand Touring a true dual-threat luxury sedan that pampers drivers with luxury and also unleashes exhilarating acceleration.
All Lucid Air models for the 2025 model year now come standard with Lucid’s latest “DreamDrive” advanced driver assistance system for added convenience and safety. The entry-level Air Pure also receives interface upgrades like a faster new processor with triple the computing power and double the memory compared to before.
This enhanced digital processing device powers the Air Pure’s state-of-the-art touchscreen and improves the response speeds of the infotainment system apps and menus. Riders will enjoy a smoother and more lag-free in-car technology experience compared to prior Air Pure versions.
Lucid is looking beyond just sedans with the anticipated launch of its first SUV, the Lucid Gravity, which is slated to begin production in the latter part of 2022. The Gravity will expand Lucid’s model offerings into the all-important SUV segment that attracts many buyers.
With an expected range closer to 400 miles and plug-in option like the Air, the Gravity should appeal to customers seeking a high-end electric utility vehicle. Its arrival later this calendar year indicates Lucid’s preparation is on track at their Arizona factory to help accelerate the brand’s sales volume.
By making such significant efficiency improvements like achieving 5 miles per kWh, Lucid is effectively reducing the energy costs and environmental footprint over the vehicle’s lifetime. With the Air Pure requiring less electricity to travel the same distances, it subsequently decreases the strain placed on electric grids and lowers charging costs for owners.
Lucid is pioneering innovations that allow EVs to be even more sustainable and affordable options for mainstream consumers going forward. The company hopes continued advancements will accelerate the global adoption of electric transportation.
