Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Ready For Launch on January 14

After a rigorous effort, Bajaj has finally revealed that it will begin accepting bookings for the recently unveiled Chetak e-scooter in January 2020, the price of which will also be announced soon. This was revealed after the ‘Chetak Electric Yatra’ that came to an end in Pune. Initially, the Bajaj will sell Chetak through KTM showrooms in India.

Bajaj is going to place this scooter as a premium product in the market and they have also promised that they will be able to price the Chetak attractively. The Chetak is Bajaj’s first electric two-wheeler and is reminiscent of the original iconic scooter to carry the legacy forward.

Bajaj has played safe with the design and build of the scooter, all the body panels are made of steel and are retro-styled and all of the lines have been kept subtle. It has been given some modern touches also, like multi-spoke wheels and a contoured seat. Chetak is powered by a 4kW motor and comes with two riding modes – Sport and Eco – which will enable a range of 85km and 95km, respectively. Bajaj Chetak exteriors have a clean and minimal design language with no angular lines.

The front has a pentagonal LED headlight with Daytime Running Lamps, rearview mirrors have been designed elegantly multi-spoke 12-inch alloys, LED dynamic turn signal lamp. Taking a look at the rear, there is the split LED tail lights, pillion grab rail and backlit switchgear.

The digital instrument console has been installed which shows vital information to the driver such as battery level, speedometer, odometer and much more.

There are buttons placed on the handlebars to select the drive as the scooter comes with reverse assist function. The names of drive modes are Eco and Sport. It contains connected features with the Chetak like remote immobilizer and geo-fencing. You can also receive a notification in case someone tries to access your scooter without your knowledge.

Braking comprises of discs brakes in the front and at the rear. The scooter has the feature of Brake regeneration to capture the energy that is lost while braking. Bajaj, at the reveal of the scooter, did say that it will be priced within 1.4 lakh.
