After Season 2 dropped its finale on April 9, 2019, Channel 4 renewed the Northern Irish humor series for Derry Girl Season 3, and also the filming started in June 2020. However, the production was put on hold as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In October 2020, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, who plays the role of Erin Quinn, told Metro that the Derry Girl Season 3 filming was pushed back several times. Shooting in the hometown (Ireland) is important to keep the truth of this set.
“We have been pushed [filming] now a few occasions, and I believe we will push,” said Monica Jackson. It is really important for us that we maintain the credibility of the show and that we do not provide any series that is in any way a restricted edition,” she explained.
According to Cosmopolitan, Derry Girls Season 3’s celebrity Nicola Coughlan said that the scripts are already written. She talked to the series’s founder Lisa McGee concerning the storylines, which are”so brilliant.” Nicola Coughlan plays Clare Devlin, one of Erin’s best friends in Derry Girls.
“We can not do anything involving a crowd right now, therefore logistically, it is tough. But I talked to Lisa McGee recently and she talked me through the storylines. They are so brilliant, she added. “That does not surprise me – she’s just amazing – but it made me want to get it done,” said Coughlan.
As of January 2021, the filming is not declared yet. Coughlan reported the Derry Girls Season 3 celebrities are still awaiting the production to start plus they”can not do anything involving a bunch right now, so logistically, it is tough.”
“We were supposed to begin filming around today,” she explained.
“It was angry because when this all began, I think that your brain makes assumptions to make you feel better, such as it’ll just be a month, it will be OK,” she added.
It is also reported that Derry Girls Season 3 is the last and final season of this series. The girls are growing up and they will pass out from Catholic school. In an interview, Radio Times Lisa McGee told she’d like to throw Dara O Briain in Season 3.
“Oh god, it is consistently comedians with me. Dara O Briain, I adore. I don’t understand if he does some behaving,” said the founder.
It’s expected that the main cast from Season 2 will return to perform their various roles in Derry Girls Season 3. The celebrities are Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Dylan Llewellyn, Tara Lynne O’Neill, Kathy Kiera Clarke, Siobhán McSweeney, Tommy Tiernan, and Ian McElhinney.
Since the filming of Derry Girls Season 3 is put on hold for the Coronavirus pandemic, so as of yet we do not have any official release date. Stay tuned!
