How to Sell Your Car Online to the Right Person

So, you’ve had enough of your old car, and you want to sell it on so that you can open up your garage and driveway to the latest model. However, COVID has put a bit of a dampener on things, and you’re feeling a little rusty when it comes to selling your car to the right person online.

Selling your car online can be difficult, time-consuming, and stressful – but it doesn’t have to be. Let’s take a look at how to sell your car online to the right person so that both parties win in the end.

    1. Pick Your Site Carefully

As you will already know, there are a lot of websites online these days where you can sell your car. There are so many, in fact, that you might not even know where to begin with it all. How do you know which one is going to connect you with the right buyer?

Choose a handful at first, and then try to narrow your choices down based on a few personal preferences. For example, you’ll need to find one in your area, and you’ll also need to find one based on how old your car is, what kind of condition it’s in.

    2. Know Your Car

One of the first things that your potential buyer will want to know about your car is – well, pretty much everything. When people go online to buy second-hand cars, they want to be sure that they know everything about it before they take the plunge and buy it.

This is especially important if, for some reason, they can’t see the vehicle in person before they hit ‘buy.’ Make sure that you put your vehicle identification number, or VIN, into a trustworthy database. This is where you can find the model and make of your car. You’ll also want to know its mileage when it was last serviced, whether it has a current WOF and its general condition. The more information you’re able to share about your vehicle, the more confident the buyer will be.

    3. Take it to the Next Level with a Car Showroom

If you’ve got a relatively new car and you’re literally just trying to get it gone so that you can buy the next model up, then you need to invest in a few good quality photos. There are sites out there that offer car showroom options, where you can give your potential buyer a 3D virtual tour of your vehicle.

This is great if your vehicle is in really good condition, and you want your buyer to fall in love with it just like you did.

    4. Have all the Necessary Paperwork

As well as making sure that they know all about your car’s history, your perfect buyer will also need to see all the relevant paperwork, too. It might have been a while since you saw it yourself, but it needs to be in order if you’re going to successfully sell your car online.

From your release of liability form to the registration, vehicle transfer form, and emissions certificate that’s up to date, you need to cross everything off the list to make a successful sale.

You’re back out of lockdown, and you want to sell your vehicle online. How do you find the perfect buyer? Get some help from our tips above.
