O’Ward To Replace Vips In Super Formulae Finale For Red Bull

It time for the much awaited and anticipated Super Formula Finale taking place at Suzuka this weekend. The rumours are quite confirmed that the well renowned Red Bull racing is likely to drop Patricio O ‘Ward from the Mugen Squad in favour of FIA Formula 3 and replacing him with the frontrunner Jury Vips. According to news, Vips raced in FIA formula 3 this season and was one of the only non-Prema in the list to compete for the title. Now with the end of F3 championship, Vips will be heading towards Japan to compete for the final rounds of the Super Formula season which is going to be held this week, replacing the vacated place of O’ Ward at Mugen.

The Mexican Driver O’ Ward initially struggled to adapt to Super Formula Machinery even without testing and failed to escape Q1 elimination for straight two rounds in a Row. O’ Ward has expressed his willingness to continue racing in Super Formula in 2020 as well, but the replacement of Vips in the place raises doubt over the future of his tie-ups with the company.

The Red Bull Motorsport advisor Helmut Marko was recently spotted in Japan in a meeting to discuss the future perspective of the company regarding the future of the Energy Drink Brand’s future in the super Formula. Rumours point out that Red Bull will officially continue to filed Two drivers in the 2020 series, Vips being the full-season driver for the company in future as well. This in turn has created a lot of insecurities amongst the company regarding to this issue.

The 20 year old, last year’s Indy lights champion, was an addition to the Red Bull junior programme earlier this season and moved away from the Indy programme to focus on formula 2 and super formula regarding the future perspective. Due to such major changes in the company, the brand value of the sports drink company is also reports to degrade. It’s high time for the company to come to a clear decision within such a short span of time.
